Composer-in-Residence & Associate Conductor
Thane Wimberly is an up-and-coming American composer, with an insatiable curiosity for musical exploration. Currently, he serves as the Composer-in-Residence for the University of Houston’s Cougar Camerata Orchestra, writing orchestral music and arrangements for the ensemble. His music has already experienced much success, with featured works in the University of Houston “Call and Response” project, premieres at the Texas New Music Festival in 2023 and 2024, and some commissions early in his career. As a junior pursuing a B.M. in Music Composition and Music Education at the University of Houston, he continues to refine his craft, drawing inspiration from traditional and contemporary mediums to make exciting music that is evocative, emotional, and focused on inspiring others to grow and find ways to achieve good.
