Administrative Director & Principal Conductor
Third-year clarinetist at Moores School of Music, Scott Nickl is passionate and devoted to living a life surrounded by music. Pursuing Music Education, he intends to kindle flames for music in students at the intermediate level, all the while endorsing the importance of music education. During his time at Moores School of Music, Scott has performed with the UH Wind Ensemble as well as substituting in the UH Orchestra and UH Opera Orchestra. To add on, he is a proud member of the Spirit of Houston’s clarinet section. Recently, he has found enjoyment in exploring the conducting world and will be a junior conductor of the Cougar Camerata for its upcoming seasons to further explore musical expression and nurture this amazing organization’s growth. Along side junior conductor, he will also be the Administrative Director for the 2024-2025 season of the Cougar Camerata. His mentor, Houston Symphony clarinetist Alexander Potiomkin has taken him under his wing to further develop and hone his musical skill, knowledge, and clarinet playing. Devoted to his goals, Scott intends to spread his love for music and positively impact those who he comes across.
